Man Day Recap - Ink and Dagger Tattoo

Thanks to Russ and the crew at Ink and Dagger for putting on a great event.  A great crowd came out to enjoy the festivities, games, and circus sideshow acts courtesy of Capt. Stab Tuggo.

In other news, I got 2nd place in the wing eating contest.  The wings were provided by Fox Bros which was a great smoky treat.  Then the wings were covered in a super hot sauce spice concoction.  10 people started and 4 remained when the first one of us finished all 20 wings.

Volunteer! Decatur - Decatur Book Festival

The Decatur Book Festival is just around the corner!! The festival will take place over Labor Day weekend, September 4 through 6.  Volunteer positions are filling quickly, but we still have a number of volunteer opportunities available. The reputation of this festival has grown each year among the authors and attendees. We would love your help to make this year’s festival even more outstanding. Daren Wang, Executive Director of the Decatur Book Festival, continues to let everyone know about the many complimentary things the authors, exhibitors, and attendees have to say regarding the wonderful volunteers who help throughout the festival. This event would not be possible without volunteers.

SkaterAid—SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2009 . 3:00-8:00pm . East Decatur Station

SkaterAid was started in 2005 to celebrate the life of Ian Wochatz. A Decatur teen and avid skateboarder, Ian was diagnosed with an especially virulent type of brain cancer, and died on July 4, 2005 at age 15. SkaterAid provided a place for all those who loved Ian to honor his memory in a way he would have approved of...with music, friends and skateboarding.

SkaterAid's mission is to support families who are dealing with the tragedy of pediatric cancer. The first year, the proceeds of SkaterAid went to Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta. In 2006, funds were channelled to the RET Foundation in honor of RET Thomas. In 2007 and 2008, all proceeds will go the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children. To donate to any of these worthy causes, please go to our Links page.

Ultimately, SkaterAid is a place for teens to celebrate their youth. Whether flying through the air on a board, playing music, or hanging out with friends, you're only 15 once in your life, so....skate on. And shred for Ian.
