Wednesday Night Run 11-28-2012

Hello ORC,

Hope everyone is rested and filled from the Thanksgiving break. It’s still National Running Safety Month and really every month should be. This weekend is the Decatur Holiday candlelight Tour of Homes. This week, the big tree at Decatur Square is being lit. Nuncrackers is at OnStage Atlanta. What else is going on this week/weekend?

For local races this weekend, on Saturday, December 1 are the One Love, One Heart for CdLS 5K at Medlock Park, the Atlanta Beltline Eastside 10K in Atlanta, and the SheMoves Atlanta Reindeer Romp 5K at Chastain Park. For trail runners there is the XTERRA Georgia Victoria Bryant 10K/5K Trail Running Race in Royston.

This Wednesday you will be running route 8, the East Lake Golf Course run.  The link to the route is at the bottom of this e- mail.  After getting out of the hill on Garland, the route runs downhill until climbing Oakview Rd.  Then the route continues to climb Howard to a quick downhill on College.  Then it's the climb on Wisteria, and a finishing uphill at the shop.  After the run, it's off to Mojo's Pizza for food, drinks and trivia.

As a reminder, it has been getting dark earlier and for the majority of the run so if you have not already, wear your reflective vests/shirts, bright colors, and flashing lights. Be safe!

Enjoy your run Wednesday night.  Thanks for making the Oakhurst Running Club one of the friendliest running club in Atlanta.

While others may be running/resting to get ready for Black Friday. With Black Friday there is also Small Business Saturday. It the route is not well lit and is becoming a hazard, let me know and we can shelve this route till there is more light during the run.
