The Decatur Book Festival is just around the corner!! The festival will take place over Labor Day weekend, September 4 through 6. Volunteer positions are filling quickly, but we still have a number of volunteer opportunities available. The reputation of this festival has grown each year among the authors and attendees. We would love your help to make this year’s festival even more outstanding. Daren Wang, Executive Director of the Decatur Book Festival, continues to let everyone know about the many complimentary things the authors, exhibitors, and attendees have to say regarding the wonderful volunteers who help throughout the festival. This event would not be possible without volunteers.

We appreciate your help with having the festival continue to draw world class authors and tens of thousands of attendees. You can do this by volunteering.There are still a number of volunteer opportunities available. We could definitely use your help to continue to make this such a celebrated event. The areas where the most volunteer opportunities are available are Set Up of the Book Market on the Square, Close Down of the Book Market, and Author Talk/Book Signing Venue Support. There are a few other positions available too. There are no more volunteer openings at the special events (Keynote and Concert at Agnes Scott College) and there are very few morning positions available (other than Set Up on Saturday morning).
Please forward this information to anyone that you think might enjoy volunteering at this event! We have added some new venues to the festival. In addition to having the Sanctuary at Decatur Presbyterian Church as a venue for the past couple of years, we will have venues at Decatur First Baptist Church. We have been very excited about the partnerships at both of these churches. If you attend one of these churches and would like to volunteer at one of their venues, please indicate it on the volunteer form.You may sign up to volunteer at the Decatur Book Festival by completing the form at http://www.decaturbookfestival.com/2009/participate-volunteers.php. Signing up is simple. You can print out the form, complete it by hand, and fax it or drop it off. You can also follow these steps to email it to me:
Open the Word document.
Fill in your contact information (tab from field to field).
Click on checkboxes to "X" them.
Add any comments to the "Comment" line. (If you have indicated more than one assignment, let me know your order of preference or whether you are interested in doing multiple assignments.)
Save your completed document.
E-mail the completed and saved document back to me at leeann.harvey@decaturga.com.
