UT Vols at DHS

This past weekend I was driving by Decatur High School and saw the University of Tennessee tractor trailer parked at DHS. I wondered why it was there, maybe recruiting, but a little research and I found out that the UT Vols were practicing at DHS to prepare for their Chick-Fil-A Bowl game. Bring One for the Chipper

Recycle Your Christmas Tree

When making plans for a live Christmas tree, please consider the official “Bring One for the Chipper” event on Saturday, Jan. 2. Residents can drop off live Christmas trees at the Christmas Tree Recycling Center in the Agnes Scott parking lot. The entrance is between 184 and 206 S. Candler St.

The recycling center will be open Monday, Dec. 28, through Saturday, Jan. 2.Please do not leave trees anywhere else on the Agnes Scott campus.

Main Picture on the Blog

Right now the main picture of the blog is a blurry picture of leaves. That will change sooner or later to something more running related.

Good Morning!

As un-exciting as the title reads, this is the first blog post for the new Oakhurst Running Club website. The old site was oakhurstrunningclub.com. But it really wasn't working out with the new changes that the web hosting company had made. So for 2010, it's a whole new site. I'll try and grab the old info and posts or it may just start a new.

9:30 a.m. - Race day registration and packet pick-up: 9:30 – 10:20am at corner Waverly Way/Euclid Ave (large vacant lot by the Path)
10:30 a.m. - 5K Run/Walk.
11:15 a.m. - Tot Trot (ages 5 & under).
11:30 a.m. - awards ceremony.

Walkers, strollers, and dogs on leash are welcome, but please line up behind runners for safety.

Jingle Jog 5K/2K/Elf Run, December 12th, Perimeter Mall

Jingle Jog is celebrating its 22nd annual Holiday. On December the 12th friends, co-workers and family will come join us to participate in the Jingle Jog. We have awards for a myriad of categories, running and non-running. Also, bring as many toys as you can because the Salvation Army will be at the Jingle Jog to collect toys for needy children at Christmas. We want to be sure to thank our sponsers of Jingle Jog, their contributions to the Jingle Jog are what makes this happen.

2009 27th Annual Decatur Holiday Candlelight Tour of Homes

Take a look inside some of Decatur's most interesting homes and tour two points of interest. Proceeds from the tour benefit the Decatur Youth Fund and the Decatur Preservation Alliance.
