Hello ORC,
The festival season is upon us and there are some cool events to go to this weekend. This weekend is Kirkwood's Spring Fling. Sunday is Atlanta Streets Alive. They have moved the venue from downtown Atlanta and are not closing streets along Highland Ave. This should be better than years past just because of the location change. And if you are interested, Friday is Bike To Work Day. Decatur Bikes is having an energizer station to help you on your way. This Saturday is also the Concerts on the Square series. Bazaar Bizarro is at Gaia Gardens. There is the Sweet Auburn Music fest. At Historic Fourth Ward Park is the Cans Film Festival. Tunes from the Tombs is at Historic Oakland Cemetery.
What else is going on this week and weekend?
For your local racing this weekend, starting on Thursday, May 18, is the Dixie200 Relay in Marietta. On Saturday, May 19, are the 2012 Brookhaven Bolt 5K and the Kirkwood Spring Fling 5K just to mention some local runs. Check out the Kirkwood Spring Fling after the race. It's always a great little neighborhood event. For trail racing, there is the Dirty Spokes Mt Tabor 8.0/4.0 Mile Trail Running Race in Hiram. Out in Mountain City is the Warrior Dash Mud Run. I know there was an extra entry form floating around and offered on the ORC list. On Sunday, May 20, is The Freight Train 5K in Kennesaw.
On Wednesday night you will be running route 13. After looping through Kirkwood, the route goes up the hard flat of Oakview and hits the hills of Spence/McDonough. The link to the route is at the bottom of this e-mail. After the run it's off to Mojo's Pizza for food, drinks and trivia.
Thanks for making the Oakhurst Running Club one of the friendliest running club in Atlanta.
