Registration begins at 1:45 at Taj Ma-Hound

Join us for a day of fun filled activities for you and your dog!

We're kicking things off at 2pm with a Mutt Strutt starting at the Taj Ma-Hound Bakery for Dogs and ending on the Solarium lawn. Costumes are welcome with prizes for Scariest, Goofiest, Prettiest, Funniest, Best Group Costume and Most Original.

Get your dog Microchipped by Animal Action Rescue.

Adopt a new family member from a local rescue.

Learn from the professional trainers at Frogs to Dogs. They'll be taking your questions and introducing the Emergency Animal Transport Vehicle, the first of its kind in GA.

And don't miss The Marketplace for cool new collars and leashes, delicious dog treats, doggie photography, apparel and lots more.

We even have fun events for the kids so please come out and support our first annual event!

Admission is free but we will be accepting donations for food, beverages and Dogtoberfest activities. Proceeds will benefit improvements to the Oakhurst Dog Park. For more information call Taj Ma-Hound at 404-377-9220.

Since it is Halloween....  We are going to have some fun!  We are encouraging Halloween Costumes!   3 "Fun" awards for the top 3 'Team' Costumes and the top 3 individual costumes will be awarded!!!  Volunteers and vendors alike will be sporting some interesting 'new looks :)'

ATLANTA (MyFOX ATLANTA) - A young Atlanta woman went for a jog Wednesday and was struck by a car. The woman wasn't carrying identification at the time, so a resourceful nurse used the woman's iPod to learn her identity.

This Saturday - Big Happenings at the Oakhurst Dog Park

Great stuff happening in Oakhurst, sorry for the double post.  I pulled this info straight from the Decatur Active Living blog.  :)  Here's the link to their post.

Please join us this Saturday, September 26th, for a big day at the Oakhurst Dog Park! At 9 am, Trees Atlanta will be teaching a beginner pruning class, meeting at the dog park. Bring a pair of gloves and learn proper pruning technique from the experts of Trees Atlanta.

From 9:30 am to 12 pm, please join the Oakhurst Neighborhood Association for a cleanup day at the dog park. We'll be removing fallen branches and debris, removing ivy off trees, etc. Bring a pair of gloves, pruning shears or other tools. Coffee, ice water and snacks will be provided. The dog park will be closed on Saturday from 9 am to 12 pm during the events.

Decatur Active Living staff sincerely appreciates the work and dedication of volunteers who assist us with care of our parks!

And don't forget the upcoming Dogtoberfest on Sunday, October 4th at The Solarium.

Park Cleanup Day

This Saturday is the Decatur Active Living cleanup day.  It starts at 9:30 am the Oakhurst Dog Park on East Lake Dr. next to the Samuel Jones Boys & Girls Club.  Park at Oakhurst Park and walk over to the dog park.  Please bring work gloves.  If you would like, feel free to bring pruners, loppers, metal rakes, etc., but please write your name on your tools.  We’ll be removing piles of fallen branches, removing ivy off trees, etc.
