Wednesday Night Run 8-17-2011

Hello ORC,

Cakes and Ale is about to open in Decatur Sq and the growlers are coming at coming at Ale Yeah.  At Harmony Park this weekend is the 11th Annual BBQ, Blues, and Bluegrass festival.  Gates open at 4pm and live music until 10pm.  In 2 weeks time is the AJC Decatur Book festival, if you are interested in volunteering contact Lee Ann Harvey at leeann.harvey@decaturga.com Piedmont Park is hosting a Summer Arts and Craft Festival this weekend.  For more Arts and Craft there is the Festival on Ponce Summer Arts and Craft Festival (I swear both events are named the same) at the Olmsted Parks in Atlanta.  Olmsted Parks is the string of parks along Ponce from Moreland/Briarcliff to Ridgecrest.  There are some other interesting tidbits about Frederick Olmstead but I wont drone on.  Sweetwater Brewing Company is holding a fundraiser for the Busted Hearts team of the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast cancer.  If you want a movie night the Masquerade and Candler Park are both hosting movies.  Anybody been to the Wrecking Bar Brewpub; they are having brewery tours.  And for the multi-sport athlete or cyclist in all of us, this Sunday is the Grant Park Criterium.  Every time I go, there are always a number of runners there watching the races.

What else is going on?  Care to share?

There is a 5K in the Highlands to be run this weekend.  If you want something longer, how about a 10K in Hampton or a Half Marathon in Lawrenceville.  There are a couple of other races in and around the city this weekend.  The temps do feel like its cooling off a bit in the early mornings.

This Wednesday you will be running route 10.  I call it the Tupelo run because of the challenging hill on Tupelo.  The run hits Rockyford, Hosea, Tupelo, and the rolling hills of Spence/McDonough.  Watch out for traffic at intersections.  You can see the map through the link below. After this 5 miler it is off to Mojo's Pizza for food, drinks, and trivia.

Thanks for making the Oakhurst Running Club one of the friendliest running club in Atlanta.
