This is awesome weather and there are a lot of people out and about. Although I wish Decatur kept up with food truck Thursday's over by Cosmic Kitchen. I went on the last Thursday they had it and it was great to see. I guess this means I am jumping on the Atlanta food truck bandwagon. East of Eden is screening at the Toco Hills library this Friday. The Oakhurst Community Gardens is having a plant sale. If you have paint to get rid of, Briarlake Baptist has a paint recycling event. Snow White is playing at DHS. Atlanta S.T.E.A.M. fest is at Academy Theatre. At Olmsted Linear Park is the Spring Festival on Ponce. Speed-the-Plow is at Pinch 'n' Ouch Theatre. Hip Hop Meets Classical at Smith's Olde Bar. Atlanta CPR is offering free CPR classes. The Atlanta Comic Convention is in town. The Atlanta Rollergirls is having a Spirit Night at Grindhouse Killer Burgers on Thursday, April 12th.
What else is going on? Care to share?
There seems to be a whole lot of races this weekend. Some are even doubling up in the same parts of town. On Saturday, April 14, are the Run with the Wolves 5K on Atlanta, the runningnerds 5K also in Atlanta, Oakhurst Cooperative Preschool has the Beat the Street for Little Feet 5K & Mile at Coan Park, the Atlanta Track Club is hosting their Spring 8K & 15K in Inman Park, the 40th Annual Pi Mile 5K Road Race is at Georgia Tech, and the Run Before You Crawl 5K is at Brownwood Park. There are even more around the Metro Atlanta area.
This Wednesday you will be running route 15. It's the Katie Kerr run. The group hasn't run this in a while but with more daytime light, the run will not be on unlit streets. All the construction along Candler Rd is also finished up. There are some nice challenging hills and after making at all the way past the last steep hill and false flats, you finish strongly on the downhill to One Step at a Time. It's one of the few routes that actually has a downhill finish. You can see the map through the link below. After the run it's off to Mojo's Pizza for food, drinks, and trivia.
Brushing the dust off a couple of routes so let me know if the link below doesn't work and I will correct it.
Thanks for making the Oakhurst Running Club one of the friendliest running club in Atlanta.
