Wednesday Night Run 4-18-2012

Hello ORC,

I guess it's been great weather because there are more and more folks out running these days. It's that time where it's still relatively cool and not the overbearing heat of summer. The rain date for Touch A truck is this weekend. Not that the adults receiving this email will want to touch a truck (or maybe you do), you may have young-uns that want to jump on the trucks. On Sunday is Decatur Earth day at the Oakhurst Gardens. There is a Girl Scout yard sale in Avondale Estates. Earth Fest 2012 is going on at Shallowford Presbyterian. There is the Sweetwater 420 fest in Candler Park. The Dogwood festival is this weekend. There is the WRFG Bluegrass festival in Clarkston. There is a roller derby double header with the Atlanta Rollergirls at the Yaarab Shrine Center Auditorium. The Druid Hills Artists Market is at St. John's Lutheran.

What else is going on this weekend?

Again there are a lot of local races this weekend. It's actually pretty amazing to see. This past weekend, I was driving on DeKalb Av and there were 2 races going that passed by the same busy intersection. Literally, runners from 2 different races would pass each other. This weekend is the Southern Blue Relay up in Amicalola Falls State Park. On Saturday on the local races side are Sweetwater 420 Fest 5K in Candler Park and the Romp Thru The Woods 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run in Decatur. On Sunday but not local are the ZOOMA Atlanta Half Marathon & 5K at Lake Lanier Islands, the Rock the New Moon Half Marathon/5K/10K in Lawrenceville, and the 1st Annual Coach Jay 5K and Crocs Walk in Kennesaw. For you trail racers there is the Dirty Spokes Gainesville State College 5.3/2.5 Mile Trail Running Race in Gainesville.

This Wednesday you will be running route 11, the Decatur Cemetery run. There are a lot of turns on this route. Hope it's laid out enough on the map for you to follow. I don't remember the last time this route was used; it's been a while. The link to the route is at the bottom of this e-mail. After the run it's off to Mojo's Pizza for food, drinks and trivia.

Enjoy your run Wednesday night. Thanks for making the Oakhurst Running Club one of the friendliest running club in Atlanta.
