Wednesday Night Run 4-25-2012

Hello ORC,

To all my gnomies out there, for the Inman Park Festival Parade, the gnomes are gathering to set the world record for a gnome march. They need to beat 478 set by the Brits. Darn those Brit gnomes! Line up at 2pm on Saturday and bring your pointy red hat. I love gnomes! In addition to the gnome parade there is also some small festival going on called the Inman Park Festival. Note, take Marta. Avondale Estates is closing their streets for their Sunday ride which is an open streets initiative. Springdale Heights is having a neighborhood yard and bake sale. The West Ponce neighborhood is also having a neighborhood yard sale, minus the bake sale.

What else is going on? Want to share?

There are a lot of runs around the area from road races to stair climbs and trail races. Here is a sampling of some. On Saturday is the 2012 Fight for Air Climb at 191 Peachtree Tower, in Inman Park is the 4th Annual Rocket Run 5K & Caterpillar Cruise, in Atlanta is the 12th Annual IOCC 5K, Dirty Girl Mud Run 5K, the Walk for Wishes / Run for Wishes 5K, the Girls on the Run of Atlanta Spring 5K, the Atlanta Beltline Northside 5K, 21st Annual Take Back the Night 5K & Mile, and the Set Our Souls Afire 5K & Mile Fun Run/Walk. The Athens Twilight 5K & $1000 Mile is in Athens. I included it because some of you may be in Athens for a bike race already. For trail runners there is the Muddy Duck Dash 3.5 mile Challenge Race in Gainesville, the 2nd Annual Torching the Trail for Burns 5K/1 Mile in Morrow, and the Chehaw Cheetah Chase 4 & 8 Mile Trail Run and Kids Mile in Albany. You can even fit in a Sunday run at the Springtime Bop 5K/Mile/Tot Trot in Sandy Springs.

Also, if you are interested in running the GA Warrior Dash on May 19th, Kimberly has 2 race numbers available. She is injured and is offering the numbers up. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you Kimberly's info. Get well soon Kimberly!

Wednesday you will be running Route 9, the Lake Claire run. It's a nice run starting with the short hills going out and then the long hard flat coming back into Decatur and Oakhurst, along Ponce and East Lake Rd. The link is at the bottom of this e-mail. It's been a while since running this route so if the link doesn't work, let me know. After the run it's off to Mojo's Pizza for food, drinks and trivia.

Enjoy your run Wednesday night. Thanks for making the Oakhurst Running Club one of the friendliest running club in Atlanta.
