Running in the Rain

The streak continues of continuous runs, every Wednesday night.  I have to really think back when the streak started but its been several years for the Wednesday Night group.  The Saturday group is pushing at least 8 or 9 years for their streak.

So the rains came and at around 6:40pm; it was really pouring down.  I rode over to One Step at a Time.  People must have thought I was crazy.  I was drenched but I knew the streak would continue.  So Gail, Charles, and I watched as the rain slowed and then stopped.  Soon others came, first Jere, then Emily, then Sarah, and new runner Glenn.  We waited around and Deb and Scott showed up.  Deb brought treats.  Thanks to texting, runners came out to run.  So we started.

There was some running through puddles and running water.  We got splashed on by cars.  A little over halfway along Katie Kerr, the rain started again.  And it poured.  The rest of the run pretty much finished like that.  Running uphill with the water rushing the opposite way was a surreal feeling.  Even running on the sidewalks, places were ankle deep of rushing water.

Everyone finished, wet, and happy.  It was a fun run like kids playing in the rain.  Once your soaked, a little more rain isn't going to make a difference.  We took some pictures.  We had to take 2 because what we didn't know was that Betsy and Bill ran also.  They started a couple of minutes behind the first 6 but they still ran in the pouring rain.

After the run we were treated with Deb's brownies.
