Annual marathon to close Atlanta streets Sunday

Thousands of runners will hit the streets of Atlanta Sunday to compete in the fourth annual ING Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon.
The event will close down some of the city’s most utilized streets.
The marathon, slated for Sunday will start and finish at Centennial Olympic Park and will take runners through downtown Atlanta and the city of Decatur.
Roads like Marietta Street, Auburn Avenue, Edgewood Avenue, North Avenue, Ponce de Leon, Clairemont Avenue, N Decatur Road, Briarclif Road and roads around Piedmont Park will be closed starting as early as 6 a.m. Sunday morning and some will not open again until well after midnight.

In 2009, about 12,000 runners signed up to participate in the ING races.
